How to get from the Airport to the city centre:
Helsinki airport is located in Vantaa, which is about 20 kilometres from the centre of Helsinki.
- Public Transport: There are two bus services and one train that will take you to Helsinki Railway Station in the centre:
City bus: The line 615 which leaves every 30 minutes from Terminal 1 (platform 2) and stops at Terminal 2 (platform 21) too. A single journey will cost you € 5.00 and you will be at the station in 45 minutes.
Finnair City Bus: Buses leave every 20 minutes from Terminal 2 (Check-in 201 – 423) and stop at Terminal 1 (Check-in 101-114) too. A single journey will cost you € 6.60 and you will be at the station in 30 minutes.
Train: the P-train or the I-train runs approximately every 10 minutes from the corridor between the terminals. For a single trip, you will need a regional ticket, priced at € 5.50 (which can be purchased in the VR ticket vending machines) and you will be in the centre in 32 minutes.
- Taxi: Taxis are located outside the Arrivals hall of both terminals and operate 24 hours a day. A journey to Helsinki centre takes about 30 minutes and costs € 45.00 to € 55.00.

Passport and visa
An identity card is sufficient for participants from EU-member countries. All other participants need a valid passport to enter the European Union.
Visas may be required for participants from some countries. For specific information, please contact the nearest Finnish embassy at least six weeks prior to your departure.

The country’s official language is of course Finnish, however English is spoken widely.
Temperatures in September are usually around 10 °C in Helsinki: daytime temperatures are between 6 °C to 14 °C. However there are about 15 days of rainfall in the month, so it can be useful to take raincoat and an umbrella in your luggage.
